GIARDINO DEI PINI RESORT – designer Monia Marzano

The “Il Giardino dei Pini” Hotel & Resort of Marina di Alliste (LE) ITALY, is distinguished by a mood which combines the Mediterranean warmth and hospitality of a Grand Hotel with a modern habitation concept and the very highest standards of comfort for this category.  The interior project, designed by Monia Marzano, is the upshot of a taste at the same time simple and sophisticated, where functionality and quest for perfection and design blend into a combination of sensations and moods. Metal, stone, wood and ceramics are the materials which predominate in this architecture. This is a typically Mediterranean building, surrounded by the greenery of the Salento region, only a short way from the Ionian coast. Water and greenery are used at the lobby entrance to indicate to guests the route to be followed. Reception, bar, reading room and art gallery are totally “open” spaces, where individual functions can interact with one another producing daily movement inside the Resort. The events room has been conceived as the ideal place in which to share one-of-a-kind, important and unforgettable events. The low lighting enhances an architectural style at the same time soft and contemporary, designed to create different atmospheres. Neutral colours predominate everywhere, highlighted by the floor of the Ceramiche Piemme “Urban” collection, in this case the large 80×80 cm size which eliminates to the utmost the fragmentation caused by the joints and gives the interior new impulse and uniformity. Urban is a latest-generation porcelain stoneware, made using 3-D digital technology; capable of outstanding technical performance, it features a non-invasive texture which fits in perfectly with the other covering materials used such as stone and wood. This is one of the reasons why Urban has been widely used in a number of different contexts, such as the bedrooms, bathrooms, reception and the large events room. Every detail of the resort is distinguished by high standards of elegance. Upholstered beds and iron structures with wooden tops that act as bedside units, lamps with classic design furnish the rooms on the upper floor together with very minimal bathrooms, furnished with Arca “Slice” and “Flow” washbasins designed by Monia Marzano and the “Start” sanitary ware designed for Valdama.
The lighting consists, in part, of Italian-design icon pieces such as the “Zeppelin and Taraxacum” chandeliers by Flos and Foscarini’s “Aplomb”.
